October Circle Meeting
October 20th in the Church Parlor at 12:00 noon
The Daytime UWF circle will meet from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. in the FUMC Church Parlor. Bring a brown bag lunch. The church parlor will give us access to the kitchen for support for any food you are bringing, and we will have coffee and water available. There will be a short program emphasizing the Grace, Not Punishment program of UWF – which emphasizes elimination of the policies that lead to the school-to-prison pipeline. We also have invited Katie Ramirez, Community Development Organizer for Hope is Alive – a program that supports individuals as they come out of prison to reintegrate into the world and be successful citizens. We will report on our Phantom Walk for Missions. Madella and Faye will report on the OK-UWF Yearly Celebration in Tulsa. We will also plan for the hosting of West District Local Unit Leaders Training Session on Nov. 7, 2026. A short business session will happen. All women are welcome, invite a friend. Come have an informative meeting with good fellowship.
REPORT – Weatherford UWF – Phantom Walk
The Phantom Walking fundraising event concluded on Sept. 17, 2026. Our goal was to raise $2,000.00, and we reached about 45% of our goal – $900. There are still forms on the UWF table in the Narthex if you would like to make a donation. You can follow future progress of this effort by seeing the poster presentation on the UWF Table in the Narthex. This will help us fund the identified mission projects we have adopted. All individuals who have made a donation will receive a thank you note and receipt by the end of November. The t-shirts will be ordered for those who contributed at least $50.00 to our project.
Pick Up your World Thank Offering box at the UWF Table
The World Thank Offering (WTO) is a way for members of UWF to show gratitude for God’s blessings and find creative ways to raise funds to improve the lives of women, children, and youth. The WTO supports the total program of mission carried out through United Women in Faith’s National office in the United States and around the world. By the month of October, we try to be sure that people have the World Thank Offering boxes. You can find WTO boxes on the UWF table in the Narthex. Individuals take them home to return them in November when this offering is submitted. Some people may already have their boxes and working to add their change that can assist in a special mission emphasis each year. It is amazing how much we can bring if we just put our loose change in the boxes each day.
Weatherford well represented at the OK-UWF Yearly Celebration
Three individuals attended the OK-UWF Yearly Celebration (Annual Meeting) in Tulsa on October 2-3, 2026. Faye Henson and Madella Shelton representing Weatherford UWF and Lois Griffin, representing the West District as a member At-Large. As the meeting has not happened at the time of the newsletter submission process, you will have to come to the meeting to hear Faye and Madella’s feedback. More information will be shared in the November news.
Hinton FUMC Annual Women’s Retreat
“Where Friends Gather”
at Canyon Camp, Oct 23-24
Check in begins at 5:30pm on Friday, October 23rd. Food and fellowship at 6pm. All are welcome Friday night, even if you can’t stay the night in the canyon. Saturday the program will start at 9am in Miller Hall, and conclude around 3:30pm. Registration form here.
